My privacy promises

This blog and these subscription lists are maintained by Edward Hasbrouck. I'm an outspoken privacy advocate, and I try to practice what I preach.

In consideration of your giving me your e-mail address, I promise to use your e-mail address only to send my newsletter and notifications of updates to my blog. If you ask to unsubscribe, I promise to honor your request.

I maintain these lists myself, as securely as I know how. So far as I know, no one has access to them except me and the administrators of the system on which this Web site is hosted. So far as I know, they have never tried to abuse their power as system administrators.

This Web site and list server are hosted in Canada, not in the USA. The privacy of information concerning visitors to this Web site and subscribers to my newsletter and notification lists is protected by Canadian laws including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

I do not knowingly share addresses with my publishers or employers. I have never sold, rented, "shared", or knowingly disclosed any e-mail addresses from these lists to anyone. I will never do so except under duress, and I will vigorously contest any attempt to compel me to do so. I will update this page, and I will attempt to notify you, if I am ever forced to divulge any e-mail addresses from these lists, or if I become aware that the security of these lists has been compromised.

You can remove your e-mail address from my notification list at any time by following the link in each notification message.

You can also unsubscribe by me a message (it's easiest for me if you forward the list message, so I know to which list you were subscribed) at "unsubscribe@hasbrouck.org".
