Workshops on the draft in S.F., N.Y., and D.C.

Upcoming events in San Francisco, New York City, and Washington, DC:

  • Bay Area Students and Educators to Stop the War conference -- Saturday, 22 April 2006, 10.a.m. - 6 p.m., Mission High School, 18th St. and Dolores Ave. (near 16th St./Mission BART station), San Francisco, CA. Information on the draft available all day; workshop on the draft, draft registration, and draft resistance with Edward Hasbrouck of Resisters.info and Maxina Ventura of the Radical Family Collective, 3:00-4:15 p.m.
  • Operation Refuse War -- 11-16 May 2006; events in New York City and Washington, DC. International Conscientious Objectors' Day events focusing on military and GI resisters in the USA, including an international gathering of conscientious objectors and draft and military resisters, and strategy sessions on conscientious objection, resistance, and conscription. "Operation Refuse War will be an opportunity for conscientious objectors, anti-war activists, and military families to come together to share strategies and build community." [Addendum, 19 April 2006: The schedule for the Washington portion of the prgram has been posted, including workshops on "Personal Stories of Conscientious Objection and Draft Resistance", "Mobilizing Against a Draft", "What is CO without a draft?
