Under new management: BootsnAll acquires

As announced last week by and BootsnAll, the two companies will be merging.

“The companies will continue to operate separately,” but Sean Keener, co-founder of BootsnAll, will take over as CEO of AirTreks while also remaining CEO of BootsnAll.

I’ve known Sean Keener since his first joint ventures with more than a decade ago, when I was still a full-time employee of Airtreks. I’ve already been in touch with Sean, and I look forward to continuing to work with him and the rest of my friends at I’ve been limited in what I could do with BootsnAll while it was, in part, a competitor of I hope that the merger will open up new possibilities for me to work with both.

I remain a paid affiliate of, and if you use the links on my blog and Web site to arrange your around-the-world or multi-continent airline tickets through Airtreks, or if you tell that I referred you, I get a referral fee. As I say in my disclosures and disclaimers:

I had multiple job offers — some for a higher salary — when I first chose to work for I went there, stayed there, and continue to recommend them because I believe they offer good value. As long as that remains true, I’d do so whether or not they paid me. After considerable thought, I’ve decided that the value of their services to you, the reader, should be more important than my fear of appearing self-serving by recommending them. Feel free to ignore what I say about them if you think that it’s motivated solely by self-interest. At one time, as an employee, I had options on stock, but they expired long ago, unexercised and under water.

All of this remains true with the acquisition of by BootsnAll.
